Step-by-Step Guide

Viewing IP Cams on Microsoft Laptop

Viewing an IP camera feed on a Microsoft laptop involves several steps, including enabling Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge if your IP camera’s web interface requires it. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Enabling Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge

Launch Microsoft Edge on your laptop.

In the top-right corner of the window, click on the “Ellipsis” (three horizontal dots) to open the menu.

From the menu, select “Settings.”

In the Settings menu, locate and click on the “Default browser” option in the left sidebar.

Under the “Internet Explorer compatibility” section, you should see an option that says “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode.” Click on it.

A switch labeled “Allow” should appear. Turn it on by clicking it.

After enabling the “Allow” switch, you’ll be prompted to restart Microsoft Edge to save the changes. Click on the “Restart” button to do so.

Step 2: Obtain the IP Address of the Camera

  1. Open the Camhi app on your mobile device.
  2. Look for a settings gear icon in the list of cameras (usually located in the main camera list section) and tap on it.
  3. Scroll down to the “Device information”.
  4. Take note of the IP address listed for the camera. It will typically be in the format of “X.X.X.X.”

Step 3: Access the Camera in Microsoft Edge

On your Microsoft laptop, open Microsoft Edge.

In the address field, input the IP address you obtained in the previous step. The format should be “http://X.X.X.X/web/admin.html,” where “X.X.X.X” represents the actual IP address format of your camera.

Press “Enter” to access the camera’s web interface.

If the camera’s web interface prompts you to download any related software or plugins, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the necessary components.

Step 4: Install an Auto Refresh Extension (Optional)

If you experience freezing or lag in the camera’s video feed, you can install an Auto Refresh extension in Microsoft Edge. This extension will automatically refresh the web page at regular intervals, helping to prevent frame freezing.

Visit the Microsoft Edge Extensions Store and search for an Auto Refresh extension.

Choose an extension that suits your needs and install it by following the provided instructions.

Configure the Auto Refresh extension to refresh the camera’s web interface at a desired interval. Setting it to a 5-minute interval is a good starting point.

Step 5: Privacy and Terms

Before downloading any extensions or software, make sure to read and understand the privacy terms and conditions associated with the Microsoft Edge extension you choose. Be aware of the permissions it may require and how it handles your data.

By following these steps, you should be able to access and view your IP camera’s live video feed from your Microsoft laptop using the Camhi app and Microsoft Edge. Keep in mind that the exact steps and options may vary depending on the camera model and its web interface, so refer to the camera’s documentation for any specific instructions.
